enercast nominated for the Innovation Radar Prize 2017

enercast is nominated for the Innovation Radar Prize 2017 of the European Commission for its innovative approaches in the EU research project “Building Energy Decision Support Systems for Smart cities” (BESOS).

Companies from Germany, Spain, Portugal and Greece involved in the international project ‘BESOS’ investigated the improvement of structures for “Smart Cities” and implemented them in two European cities, Barcelona and Lisbon.

In the BESOS research project, enercast calculated precise energy forecasts for renewable energies. In addition, enercast was able to increase the efficiency of the cooling system in the Lisboa Camara Municipal (Lisbon City Hall) administration building (3 GWh consumption/year) by means of intelligent cooling and PV capacity forecasts.

“Energiewende” through Artificial Intelligence and Big Data

With its Artificial Intelligence and Big Data competence in the area of performance forecasts for wind and solar power plants, enercast offers a basic building block for the energy transition. This enables energy companies to integrate wind and solar energy into electricity networks and energy markets worldwide.

The European Commission has launched the Innovation Radar Prize to identify Europe’s best innovators and their innovations. This year’s top 48 innovators were nominated by the Innovation Radar (IR). Innovation Radar is an initiative of the European Commission to identify innovations and innovators in research projects with high potential.

By October 15th,  the public is invited to vote online for innovators from these 48 nominated companies to find the top 20. These will then compete in the final round of the Innovation Radar at ICT Proposers’ Day in Budapest on November 9th 2017.
